Hello from the registered care manager

I am Fran Louise the registered manager at Birkdale, I started work at Birkdale in 2012 as a senior carer & have progressed to Registered Manager & Nominated Individual, my aim is to keep Birkdale as homely as possible working with the families to ensure we achieve the best possible outcome keeping the family unit together, we encourage visits at any time families are welcome to stay for a meal whenever they wish.

Birkdale is currently seeing some major changes with new investments to improve our service. We are all looking forward to the changes ahead. So far, it’s been amazing the front of the building has had a face lift with a new coat of paint, pale yellow with white shutters around the windows and window boxes with trailing white & yellow flowers & foliage they look beautiful.

Weve had a new upgraded call bell system installed along with a new fire safety system, a new electrical fuse system has also been installed ensuring our residents, staff & visitors are safe.

There has also been refurbishment to some of the rooms including new vanity unit’s new décor & flooring, which will be ongoing. A shower room has been refurbished to a high standard, a room for hairdressing manicure & pedicure has been created along with activities such as art crafts bingo music even room to dance if you wish and much more, we have regular fund-raising events to help towards outside entertainment such as trips out and live entertainment. Fund raising events such as raffles & competitions we recently held The Great Birkdale Bake Off which raised enough funds to have Tom Wenlock sing live.

The staff have had a new staff room created; also new staff uniforms are being replaced with a more modern feel. Reception has been updated and the corridors through the building are having a refreshing coat of paint for now as the communal areas are having major refurbishment in the near future.

All this has come to fruition due to our new investor & will continue with improvements as we go along causing as least disruption to the residents, families & staff as we possibly can.
